Every year on the 28th April the International Labour Organization (ILO) have earmarked it as World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This year’s theme is ‘Workplace Stress: A Collective Challenge’. mjmDr Jefferelli Shamsul Bahrin, a SOEM-MMA Committee who also works as the Regional Head for Occupational Medicine and Health Protection for BASF Asia Pacific have so generously shared his view on the subject in the April issue of the Berita MMA, which so aptly have the ILO World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2016 theme as their cover. Dr Jeff emphasised in the article that “Getting the right match” is the main component in preventing stress and improving productivity at work. He summarises the issue that tackling stress at the workplace should involve multiple stakeholders; employer, employee, Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Health, the Malaysian National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, universities, and with professional bodies and societies, e.g., Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine-MMA. To read more on his view, you will need to pick-up the Berita MMA.
